Dust Extraction and Deep Cleaning Services

A new week and an exciting new project begins for Lewis Daniels Cleaning Services. We have a team at one of the most prestigious studios in London, using their expertise and experience to deep clean the main stages.

Dust in studios is easily caused by construction and set-building activities, and consequent dry sweeping. Particles become airborne, infiltrating clothing, hair – and the lungs, in worst case scenarios. The best approach is to prevent dust build-up by using air extraction and dust suppression where possible, or even segregating activities that create dust from other workers.

However, dust build up over the years is very common in film studios. As it can be very harmful to cast and crew – as well as potentially damaging to sensitive recording equipment – 

We recommend a deep clean every 6 months or after each production ends.

Our Dust Extraction Process

We start by visiting the site for a recce to ensure we understand any access and restrictions and to be able to accurately assess the likely duration of the clean. Normally, dust builds up on the gantries, the stage curtains and the studio walls. 

The key is dust extraction from the gantries and the stage curtains and walls using industrial grade vacuum cleaners and HEPA filters. This ensures that any harmful dust is not released into the environment, and is instead trapped within the filters.

If a scissor lift is required, we can organise hire and ensure a registered IPAF driver is on the team. 

Prior to any works beginning, we will provide a scope of work, and a tailored RAMS document together with our budget and timings. We are always happy to sign NDA if necessary; we treat every quote with utmost confidentiality and our staff are committed to doing the same on set.

We also offer the reassurance that our waste policies follow strict recycling and sustainability guidelines. All bin bags are fully recyclable and the three bins (general waste, recycling and PPE) are separated and disposed of in the correct way and we will work closely with your sustainability team to provide reports if required.
